The Detroit Future City (DFC) Field Guide to Working with Lots is an online tool designed to help residents and organizations to in Detroit with vacant land reclamation projects. But vacant lots are not unique to Detroit and this informative site has ideas that can inspire anyone.

The Field Guide provides users with inspiration and practical information for transforming vacant lots into greener, more attractive and more useful space. Ideas and examples are drawn from more than 50 Detroit-based organizations as well as a few from other cities. The sample projects are sortable by cost to build, amount of upkeep required, type of lot and other factors. Porjects include for rain gardens, flower meadows, forest patches, community uses and many others.
