Two Shades of Green Property Management Strategies

Two Shades of Green is a LISC New York City program designed from the recognition that there has been an emerging practice of building new residences that are green and healthy, but there is far too little focus on making such improvements to existing buildings.

The Two Shades of Green program was built on the understanding that groups that provide affordable housing have limited resources to green their buildings. And so these property management strategies both save money and create healthier homes.

In partnership with The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and The NYC Coalition for a Smoke-Free City, LISC NYC's Two Shades of Green program produced three short case studies that teach property managers and owners innovative and cost-effective ways to integrate water retrofits, green cleaning and smoke-free housing.

These practical guides outline how local community development corporations are using green property management strategies to save money and create healthier environments for residents.
