"Getting Over Your Retail Leasing Blues"

Many nonprofits built retail into the first floor of their housing developments only to discover that leasing those spaces to the right tenants can be difficult. The materials below, from LISC MetroEdge, provide expert advice on what challenges to expect and how to address them.

The Powerpoint presentation lays out common challenges, such as unrealistic expectations for leasing the space or a design that doesn't match the needs of target businesses. They were originally used for a webinar on June 22, 2010 that featured Helen Dunlap and Jake Cowan from LISC MetroEdge; Desiree Sideroff, an economic and community development consultant; and Joel Bookman of LISC/Chicago.
