"Quantitative Analysis of Neighborhood Change"

One of the most important questions in a Building Sustainable Communities (BSC) initiative is whether or not to target neighborhoods have changed for the better.

To guide efforts to find out, LISC developed an extensive Quantitative Analysis Plan that outlines the research questions, data sources and analysis methods to be used in examining neighborhood change over time.

This plan served as the roadmap for identification of neighborhood indicators from both national (largely federal) government sources and local administrative data.

National data were assembled and analyzed by LISC researchers and local data were assembled by local “data warehouses” under contract to LISC. Each of the national and local efforts has produced neighborhood monitoring reports that track the level and trends in neighborhood conditions.
