"Audit Best Practices for Community Development Corporations"

Community development corporations are a unique subset of nonprofit organizations, frequently involved in a diverse and complex set of possible activities, including residential and commercial property development. The financial structure and reporting of CDCs can range from being quite simple to incredibly complex.

Indianapolis LISC hired Joanne Montagner Hull, CPA, and president of Your Bean Counters, to conduct a survey of local CDCs’ audits and develop a set of consistent audit guidelines. These guidelines are intended to provide supportive assistance to the CDCs and their auditors to ensure the audits’ completeness, consistency and comparability.
